Legally Blonde The Musical
Every year Ty put on a musical , this year they chose Legally Blonde The Musical . We found out what musical was going to be just before Halloween break which we had been anticipating for months previous . Auditions for the show were held in the coming weeks and everyone was on edge , excited to see who would get what part . Once the parts were given out it was straight into work and all lines had to be learnt . We were all on such a high after getting our parts as each girl was given a part even if it was just one word , I was over the moon with my part as 'Vivienne Kensington' . As being one of the leads I missed a lot of class due to rehearsals and principals were always out of class rehearsing . The musical was the part of TY I anticipated the most as I love acting and singing unfortunately I was not blessed with the dancing gene ! The atmosphere was constantly amazing and everyone was ecstatic . We had 8 performances and each one was as nervracking as the next but I loved every second of the time on stage and would do anything to go back . Overall the musical was certainly the highlight of Ty so far . I loved every minute of the musical and wouldn't change it for the world and I am so grateful for the amazing experience. Our year has bonded like I never thought it would , I am so thankful for how memories I have from the musical , they are memories I know I will never forget .
KAIROS
Every year each transition year form class creates a TV show . My form class chose to do a sketch of I'm a celeberty get me out of here , we were each given a different role be it camera man , actor , working on sound , director , stage manager and various other jobs . We wrote the script in English class , planning and writing the show really made everyone in the class engage and work together . We got a bus to maynooth from the school and when we arrived we were given a tour of the studio . I played the part of Kylie Jenner one of the contestants on I'm a celeberty get me out of here ! We had to do different challenges and each time we did a challenge one of the contestants would die . Overall it was a great experience and a very funny one I've got so many memories from kairos and I'm glad I took part in such a great opportunity.
Photography course
I took part in a photography course in school. For this course we were taught how to hold and use a camera properly and what all the buttons meant. It was really strange to take pictures on a professional camera when I'm so used to my iphone. Throughout the day, we all took turns being the photographer and the model. Personally I think I'm more of a natural behind the camera. After we took the portraits we went on to take group photos. For this part of the course we could wear props and mess around. It was really fun. Overall I found the course very beneficial and enjoyable.

Martial Arts
On Monday, the 23rd of October, my fellow TY classmates and I completed a two day self defence course. The course was run by Darragh from Focus martial arts. I had never done any martial arts before in my life so I was unsure what to expect. On the first day we were introduced to the course with a power point presentation on the background of martial arts and the different techniques used in self defence and what to expect from the course. Afterwards it was straight into the training. We started off with our strikes. Then we moved on to ground fighting. On the second day we got to do some traditional Taikwondo moves and then we were assessed. I was so nervous for the test but it ended up being really fun. Overall I really enjoyed the course and I learned a lot from it. I hope to further my skills in martial arts in the future.

Scuba Diving
On Wednesday the 22nd of November each student in TY that had signed up for Scuba Diving was given a theory class in the halal nua to learn the basics of Scuba Diving and what to expect . We were given a PowerPoint presentation and shown a video of the previous year group . I was a bit sceptical about the scuba diving as I'd never done it before I began to feel very apprehensive about it because with my luck something always goes wrong . We left on Monday the 27th to the National Aquatic Centre where the course took place and I was full of nerves and excitement . The form classes were split into two groups A+B in the first and C+D in the second , we were given our equipment ( wetsuit , tank , mask ) and it was straight into the water . About 5 minutes in I still couldn't get the hang of it and found it really hard to breathe through the mask so I kept swimming up to the top without telling my instructor because I began to panic , let's just say it took me a while to get the hang of it and I'm defiantly not the most gracious person swimming when I can't breathe . In the last ten minutes I really enjoyed myself and didn't want to leave , all and all it was a really interesting experience that I certainly won't forget but I'm really glad I did it and I've taken away lots of embarrassing / funny memories with me .

First Aid
On Monday the 16th of April I began my three day first aid course. I'd never taken a course in first aid before so I wasn't sure what to expect. But our teacher was very friendly and explained everything in great detail. Over the three days we learned a number of sills including how to give cpr, how to use a defibrillator, how to treat a patient for bleeding, how to do the recovery position and so much more. The slides were very good and informative but my favorite part of the course was the practical work. Getting to use the dolls to practice was really helpful in getting us all to understand how to treat a patient in a real situation. We also practiced the recovery position , bandages and scenarios with each other during the course. On the last day of the course we had an assessment. The written exam was quite easy but the practical wasn't as easily done. Luckily the examiner was very nice and put us all at ease. Overall the course was very interesting and I feel like I've learned god skills for later in life .

Eagles Flight Workshop
I didn't really know to expect when we walked over to the pavilion when we were told we were doing a workshop I thought it was just going to be another talk but to my surprise it was a board game . We were split into teams of five and we each had to figure out how to get the gold . The game was called 'The search for the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine' it was basically just a game to get us working together and discussing the game . Unfortunately my team did not win but it was a great day of communicating and problem solving , there was a lot of thinking involved . It was a really enjoyable day .

Music festival + Summer Concert
This year I was in both the Music Festival and the Summer Concert . I love competing in the music festival it's always a great night the same with the summer concert except the summer concert is more enjoyable because it's not a competition . This year I preformed a song called ' Maybe This Time ' from the film Cabaret and as nervous as I was I still loved every second on stage . I chose not to sing in the summer concert this year as I had nothing prepared but I still sung in the choir . This year was my sisters last music festival and summer concert so it will be very weird preforming in next years show without her there . Overall I think both the music festival and summer concert show case the amazing talent St.Gerards have to offer and I look forward to preforming in them each year .
