TY camping trip to lough Dan
For our first TY Trip we went camping in Lough Dan , Co.Wicklow . We went camping straight after receiving our junior certificate results . Everyone had arranged tents and everyone in each tent was assigned to get different food and camping equipment . Packing for camping was very stressful because we had to pack clothes for every type of weather . When we first arrived at the camp sight it wasn't what I had expected it to look like . I had imagined it to be a huge field in the middle of a forest , I was happily surprised to find out that it wasn't . The weather was very mixed from the start until the end of the trip , one minute it was raining and cold and the next it was sunny and warm . The food from my tent was a bit of a disaster considering none of us could cook anything but we had no problem just eating chocolate and crisps . My favourite part of the day / night was when everyone would stand around the fire and talk and sing just before bed . I really enjoyed the 22km hike which I thought I would hate , I loved how you would speak to people you wouldn't normally have a chance to speak to in school . The highlight of my trip was defiantly getting closer with everyone and bonding . I loved every minute of camping even the freezing swim and I wish it was longer . It exseeded all of my expectations and I would do anything to go back and re live those three days .
Carlingford
On Monday the 19th of February, my fellow ty students and I went on a five day trip to Carlingford adventure centre for our outdoor pursuits week. We left he school at 10 o clock and it was a two hour drive to the centre in co. Louth. As soon as we arrived it was straight to the centre. The town of Carlingford itself was so small and beautiful. It was like something out of a movie. Once we were introduced to our instructors, we split into our dorms. As I am not really into the outdoors I wasn't sure what to expect but as soon as we started the first activity I knew that I was going to enjoy the rest of the week. Some of the activities that we did throughout the week were: Zip lining, Sky park , canoeing, challenge island, high ropes, night line, carlingford challenge, circus skills, night walk and laser combat. The zip lining was terrifying at the start but I slowly got into it. My favourite activity was probably the canoeing just because it was so bad considering the weather which made it funny. Overall the week was very enjoyable and I think everyone had a great time.
